They displayed exceptional prowess as they successfully chased down a formidable target of 346 runs. Rachin Ravindra shone for the winning side, narrowly missing out on a century as he was dismissed by Salman Agha after scoring an impressive 97 runs.
However, the real hero of the chase was Mark Chapman, who played a blistering innings, scoring 65 runs off just 41 balls, which included eight boundaries. Daryl Mitchell also contributed significantly, notching 59 runs from 57 deliveries. A highlight of the match was Kane Williamson’s return to international cricket, marking his first appearance since suffering a knee injury on March 31. The Kiwi skipper showed his class, amassing 54 runs before retiring out, a knock embellished with eight fours.
For the Green Shirts, Usama Mir managed to claim two crucial wickets, while Hasan Ali, Wasim Jr., and Salman each chipped in with one wicket apiece.
In the initial innings, Pakistan’s batsmen showcased their skills, posting a challenging total of 345 runs on the scoreboard. Mohammad Rizwan was the standout performer, delivering an outstanding century with 103 runs off 93 balls, featuring 11 boundaries. Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, was the second-highest scorer, contributing 80 runs from 84 deliveries, adorned with 10 boundaries. Saud Shakeel, the left-handed middle-order batsman, caught everyone’s attention with a solid display, adding 75 runs to the tally, including nine boundaries, at an impressive strike rate of 141.51.
It’s important to note that these warm-up matches are played over 50 overs per side but do not carry official ODI status. Teams have the flexibility to include all 15 members of their squad in the playing XI.
The match took place in an unusual setting without spectators, a precautionary measure in response to recommendations from local security authorities in Hyderabad, coinciding with ongoing festivals in the area.
