Shortly, fans can expect several occasions where Pakistan and India will face off on the cricket field. However, their much-anticipated clash in Kandy, Sri Lanka, during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 was a letdown for fans as it got canceled due to rain last Saturday.
Nevertheless, there’s a possibility of Pakistan and India crossing paths twice in the upcoming matches of the Asia Cup: once in the Super 4 stage and then potentially in the final.
However, for India to secure a spot in the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup, they must ensure they do not lose their final group-stage match against Nepal.
Furthermore, these historic rivals are scheduled to go head-to-head once again during the ICC World Cup 2023, which will be hosted in India.
Upcoming Pakistan-India Match Schedule:
- September 10: Asia Cup Super Four in Colombo at 2:30 pm (PST)
- September 17: Asia Cup Final in Colombo at 2:30 pm (PST)
- October 14: ICC World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad at 1:30 pm (PST)
The Asia Cup 2023 is jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, spanning from August 30 to September 17.
While Pakistan serves as the co-host, not all Asia Cup matches will be held in Pakistan due to security concerns raised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Pakistan is placed in Group A, competing against Nepal and India, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka.
Out of the Asia Cup’s fixtures, four matches will take place in Pakistan, while nine, including the final, will be held in Sri Lanka.
The ICC World Cup 2023 is set to feature 10 teams vying for the coveted trophy across 10 different venues from October 5 to November 19. The tournament opener and the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Cricket World Cup will employ a round-robin format, with all teams facing each other in a total of 45 league matches. The top four teams will progress to the semifinals, scheduled for November 15 in Mumbai and November 16 in Kolkata, with reserve days allocated for the semifinals and the final.
